I started diving at the age of 15 and completely fell in love wit the sport when I witnessed the grace of our 7 wonder the world - the great barrier reef. Scuba diving to me is a form of meditation; possibly one of the few sports where everything around you is silent but the tempo of your breath.
I was fortunate enough to dive this historic wreck and it has been by far one of my favourite dive sites! A colleague and I took 18 individuals over to Vanuatu to dive the SS President Coolidge and Million Dollar point for a 10 day dive trip.
Flinders Pier is a dive site that I visited frequently in my youth often with new scuba divers. It is one of the only places in the world to find the endangered Weedy Sea Dragon. You may also find the big smooth rays hanging around too with 'Stumpy' and 'Barb' being the familiar locals to a lot of Mornington Peninsula divers.
This of course is one of my favourite dive sites as it was where I was first introduced to the sport! It is unique in its range of ecological communities, habitats and species which make it one of the most complex natural ecosystems in the world.
Scuba Schools International has announced that it will be providing free ocean conservation programs to dive centres and divers alike through its Blue Oceans Initiative. The new programs offer a host of information about a diverse range of conservation topics from coral reefs and sharks, to plastics and marine protected areas.
The strategy of the campaign is to raise awareness of the threat to the pier and build public support for the historic pier’s restoration.
Flinders Pier is a world-renowned diving spot for the endangered Weedy Sea Dragon that is unique to the Mornington Peninsula.
Adreno hopes to give back to their loyal customers by offering free tank fills for a bag of trash through their new program promoting cleaning up our oceans. Bring a bag of ocean trash into our Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth stores and you'll get a free tank fill so you can get back out there and enjoy a cleaner ocean!
I have some really exciting dive trips planned for 2022/2023 in which I am hoping to be able to share with you some inspiring content to spark you interest within the sport! Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and be following me on Instagram and MobStar to keep up to date with what I am up to.
